PublicationsStudents' NewsletterThe students edit and bring out Students’ Newsletter in English, namely, “The Rising”, to which the students from all classes contribute their write ups. Students' response was overwhelming. It has generated a favorable literary atmosphere in the School. The students also edit and bring out Students’ Tibetan Newsletter, namely, 'Lo-phel-Nyen-Tsom', meaning poetry stream. These literary exercises have proved very useful for the students in applying their literary skill and talent. Through these media the students are able to give expression to their creative mind and ideas. School NewsletterSJSS has been publishing Tibetan and English Language Annual School Newsletters with specific aim to reach out to our hundreds of sponsors abroad and to inform and apprise them of School news and activities. However, due to fund crunch, Tibetan Magazine could be published only occasionally mainly to encourage students’ literary practice and participation in promoting Tibetan language and literature in the community. A special Issue of Tibetan Magazine, titled, ‘ Bhodshon’ ( Young Tibet) was published in 1997 and another one, namely, 'Amrit', meaning Nectar, was brought out in the year 2003, aimed at rejuvenating the sagging interest in Tibetan language among the new generation Tibetan youngsters. Our students contributed some of the finest original articles covering wide range of topics on Education, Culture, Freedom Struggle, Non-violence, Vegetarianism, Buddhism, Motherland, Exile Tibetans, Tibetan Immigrant, etc. In 2006, a Special Bumper Issue of the School’s English Newsletter published in 2006. It was named “EDUCATION” as a dedication to excellence in education. It carried a large number of articles by the students on a wide range of topics, sharing their experiences, ideas, hopes and joy and happiness in different hues and colors. It also served as a reservoir of information on all aspects of the School’s history, development, objectives and mission, academic structure and activities, syllabus and courses of studies, infrastructure, staff and student, and future plan. |
