Teachers' Day Celebrated: Birthday of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, second President of India.
September 5 Friday

Showing commendable leadership and organization skill and talent, the Class X students collectively organized a grand Teachers' Day celebration programmes that deeply impressed the staff and teachers.

It is the day we celebrate the people who have transformed our lives for the better through the medium of education. The people who significantly contributed in promising a life of education, erudition and learning. It's our teacher. The custodian of learning who taught us the facts of learning and existence. Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. That's exactly what a teacher has done for us and we celebrate this joyous occasion in remembrance of the greatest teachers of India on his birthday - Dr. S. Radhakrishnan.

Morning Programme:

The students of Class organized Teachers' Day Celebration on much fuller scale this year. In the past Class X students used to organize a Tea Party for the Staff after Class hour in the Staffroom where student representatives of various Classes gave speeches and read out greeting messages. This year the celebration began in earnest right in the Morning during the Morning Assembly.

The function started with morning prayers, 'the words of truth' followed by Tibetan National Anthem and concluded with dedication slogans: wishing for swift noble rebirth in perfect human form for those Tibetan martyrs who lost their lives in recent turmoil in Tibet; commencement of unconditional and a meaningful peaceful dialogue between Chinese government and Tibetan government in Exile to solve the issue of future status of Tibet; generation of Boddhichitta in the heart of communist Chinese leadership leading to positive change in their attitude and policy towards Tibet and the Tibetan people making it possible for early resolution of the Sino-Tibetan conflict; the unobstructed spread and success of His Holiness the Dalai Lama's non-violent Middle way approach and its policy; Long life of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

Earlier, the student leaders received all the teachers and staff and respectfully led to their respective seats in the School Hall. The Hall had been decorated with colorful flowers setting the tone for a grand celebration giving a festive look. There are quotations scribbled on both side of the main Dias honouring and highlighting the importance of Teacher in the society. The Class Ten Monitor welcome the staff and Teachers and gave a brief speech dwelling on teaching profession as the noblest one and highest importance accorded to the Teachers from the ancient times right at present age and recalled great kindness and love with which the Teachers of this School have guided the precious lives of hundreds of students and who continue to mould and shape the lives of the children under their care with pure love, kindness and commitment and dedication. Next Class representatives read out Greetings messages from the podium with a humorous touch. Some read in Amdo dialectics sending audience to peels of laughter's, while others read in Khampa dialect. Yet other read in Hindi, Chinese and even in Punjabi with great style befitting actors and in the process the students showed great potentials of talent, inquilinity, and creativity. A matter of great pride and joy to all the present. This was followed by poetry presentation by lower classes. Their representatives recited poetry in Tibetan, wearing fancy hats and playful gestures had the audience in splits when some lost in the middle of presentations and kept the audience praying for some miracle power to some to his rescue but that did not come leaving the impression that there is always a line that demarcate Teachers and Teachers and the students are students the two can never be same in their role and nature. The function concluded with a 'vote of thanks' speech by Thupten Gyaltsen with more eulogizing Teachers' scared role and recalling how Teachers of this School had been truly loving, caring and kind and more importantly concerned about the future of the students of this School in the past and also at present and expressed forceful appreciation and gratitude to the staff and teachers on behalf of all the students in the School.

It was a very pleasant experience to be present in the function completely organized and hosted by the students themselves independently. It showed that there is dearth of talent, courage, and leadership quality among our students and many acted like one with great élan and style difficult to be matched even by many of the staff and teachers present. The whole function gave me one great impression that the seeds of future Tibet sprouting right ion front of us full of strength, vigor impatient to grow, flourish and spread their impression and footprints on the future nation building of our lost kingdom and that was the greatest reward one could ask from such an important event like this 'Teachers' Day'!

Afternoon Programme:

The Class X students took upon themselves the responsibility to celebrate this day as have been norm of our School since they are to graduate this year and being the most senior students they have voluntarily set this precedent by former Class X students. They raise money from the among themselves as organize various programmes and also a refreshment party for all the Teaching and administrative staff, on behalf of all the students. This year's programmes were the most elaborate and grand scale to date. On top of that they brought out a special commemorative Book entitled 'Tears of Gratitude' to express their true gratitude to their Teachers. The book is a collection of writings by students both in Tibetan and English focusing on the kindness and greatness of their beloved Teachers. It was released by Principal, Acharya Rinchen Tsering at the simple Tea Party hosted in honour of the staff and Teachers. The Class Ten students read out greeting messages collected from the students and from the Classes. Many Teachers spoke on the occasion pouring out heartfelt advices on future career of the students once graduated from School and the need for aiming high to become learned Buddhist scholars thereby fulfilling the objective of the School as well as His Holiness's wishes.
