It is very important and proud moment for the Sera Je Secondary School (SJS) as it gets ready to celebrate Silver Jubilee Anniversary. The School has embarked on an extra-ordinary journey beginning with very humble start, when classes are used to hold under shades for lack of infrastructure.

SJS has since grown into a sound institution that plays responsible role within the umbrella of Sera Je Monastery. SJS skillfully combines fine balance of modern education and study of modern science with traditional monastic education. The School imparts high standard of modern education to young novice without compromising on their traditional and spiritual training. This has benefited number of young monks who grow up to become well versed with knowledge and physical scientific world as well as attaining depth in spiritual and philosophical wisdom. This has, I think, fulfilled, to a great extend, His Holiness the Dalai Lama wishes or deeply felt need for Buddhist monks to have sound understanding of the basics of modern sciences, or at least, to have general awareness on some of the established facts that has been validated by science.

The success of SJS, which has become the model for other monastic institutions, is impossible without the generous support and backing of sponsors in the initial years and their consistent support during all these long years. Therefore, I would like to deeply offer my sincere gratitude to each and every sponsors of SJS.

Similarly, the credit also goes to the entire staff members of SJS, who through their sustained effort and dedication has earned much accolades and reputation the School enjoys today. I congratulate and than the administrators, teachers, office staff and other staff for their valuable service and collective teamwork. We expect same zeal and zest from all of them in future also.
